Cravings, Wakefield, Massachusetts

Wakefield Mass has two lakes, the one with a long Native American name (lake Quannapowitt) has a nice park and walking trails in it. The park confines on a downtown with untried areas, shops and eateries. It was here that we found Cravings.

Cravings, Wakefield Massachusetts

Cravings looks like an old fashioned soda fountain with stools and small wooden tables. The merchantry started wideness the street in 1920 and has a history described on their website. In 2001 it was moved wideness the street to its present location, but it retained its old fashioned ice surf parlor feel. Ice surf is not the only thing they sell – they moreover have chocolates, snacks and frozen yogurt. Their Ice Surf included soft serve flavors, signature sundaes and many nonflexible ice surf flavors to segregate from. I had a scoop of Butter Pecan in a sugar cone. The serving size was generous, and we enjoyed our treats while we walked through the trappy and interesting town.

In the area: Saugus Iron Works National Historic Site– Saugus , Massachusetts – iron had long been an essential component for industry, transportation, farming and mining. In the early days of the United States all iron had to be imported. This reverted with the megacosm of the Saugus Iron Works. Using local materials including bog iron, grappa, and charcoal, an iron mill worked (it would be decades surpassing steel).

This National Park site tells the story and has recreated the mill. This is an veritably wondrous place – the most wondrous National Park historic site overly – veritably worth a visit!

Although this facility was only opened for well-nigh 20 years. Folks who worked here sooner spread out and started the United States iron industry. This is one of the weightier National Park sites I have been to and I highly recommend it.
