Judd’s General Store, St. George, Utah

Judd’s General Store

We were in St. George, Utah today to watch our daughter in the half Ironman world championships. What largest way to watch a group of unconfined athletes shrivel calories than with an ice surf cone in hand?

Judd’s Store can be hands picked out by the reversion gas pump out front. The store built by Thomas Judd in 1911, preserves the original counter tops and shelves. Its décor is nostalgic and its menu includes sodas in retro bottles, soups, candies and ice cream. I entered intending to get only ice cream, but the zephyr was so good I got soup as well – it was excellent.

They served FARR ice surf which was made in Utah, a trademark I did not have before. I moreover had a new-to-me savor – licorice. I was pleasantly surprised at how good licorice ice surf could be! linty with just the right value of savor and sweetness. There were some benches outside, but the town was quite crowded today, so they were occupied. We found a less rented place withal the run undertow to watch the race and savor our ice surf and soup. We really enjoyed our wits here.

In the Area:

St George, Utah, was a unconfined nomination for the Iron Man competition. It is a nice walking town with plenty of art work and parks to enjoy. I think my favorite sculpture was the dragon in a part-way island of a road the athletes ran around.

.There was a Waterfall walk through town with informative signs that we moreover enjoyed.

Waterfall Walk

Zion National Park – millions of years ago, Utah was under the ocean. Today, obviously no longer underwater, these majestic and breath-taking cream, pink and red sandstone formations remain. They are maintained by the National Park Service so that we, and future generations can explore their eyeful and history. Words cannot plane uncork to describe this place. We visited several variegated areas and loved them all!

Fife Cabin on the Taylor Creek Trail

Kolob Canyon, Taylor Creek Trail – This is separate from the main park entrance, but a not-to be missed area. The Taylor Creek Trail (5 miles round trip) follows a stream bed through a box canyon. The creek is crossed many times during the hike, but it was nearly dry, so that was no problem today – it might be increasingly difficult in wetter times. There was a light snow tent sections of the trail which enhanced its beauty. The trail ends at what is tabbed a double arch, but I could only see a single wily and a very large cave. It was a fun trail – not difficult but trappy – scenic pass walls get closer together as you walk along. There are a couple of cabins withal the way, and it was fun trying to imagine what life would be like living in this type of place.

The Timber Creek Overlook Trail (1 mile round trip) was an enjoyable and easy trail with unconfined views.

But my favorite was The Narrows. We really did not know what we were going to see when we got of the NPS shuttle there, and it was the gem of the park – a slot pass that we could walk through. Although the water was unprepossessed and we only had our sneakers on, it was worth the numb wet feet for this experience!

Aspiration Trail, St. George Utah – On the side of a desert hillside lies a lengthy trail lined with painted rocks – specially painted rocks. Rocks painted by many unknown folks with expressions of aspirations, words of hope, words of thanks and sometimes just trappy artwork. I spent a long time here – each waddle held special meaning for someone, and it was so interesting and fun thinking well-nigh each one. In fact, I would have unsalaried if I had known well-nigh this place prior to going there.

Belly of the dragon – This was a quick, but fun stop. Under highway 89 is a tunnel tabbed Vitals of the Dragon – it was just a tomfool place to walk and its request is nonflexible to describe. without passing through belly, we ended up on the other side of the road there are interesting cairns and natural formations.
